Country goes on hunger strike for Paris Hilton…

Los Angeles, CA (CBC) - Since Paris Hilton was ordered back to prison to serve the remainder of her 45-day sentence, several thousand Americans have gone on a hunger strike to express their support for the American pop icon.

The hunger strike, unofficially dubbed Hunger for Hilton (or H4H), has enlisted thousands of young adults and Paris Hilton fans across America. The founder of the movement, Daniel Newman, explained his motivation for creating the hunger strike.

“I just think that it’s terribly unfair that an idol for millions of people is being treated the same way as an average Joe.” Newman continued by adding, “Paris gives her life for her fans and I figured that a massive hunger strike would be the best way to show our support since that is what Paris would want most - all her fans to be as skinny as she is.”

However, the hunger strike differs from the conventional idea of simply starving and instead adopts several characteristics that resemble an extreme diet. An email sent out by Mr. Newman to those on the H4H mailing list describes several guidelines for the hunger strike. One such guideline is the rules on what a protestor may eat for breakfast:

In the morning AM hours of the day, all those participating in the strike must limit their food intake to one slice of whole wheat toast, water, half of a grapefruit (or similar fruits such as an orange) and scrambled egg whites. If you do not like your eggs scrambled, you may make yourself an eggwhite omelette. If you are making an omelette, you may add certain low-fat vegetables such as sauteed mushrooms, peppers, onion and broccolli. BUT CHEESE IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED. Also, if you are a big coffee drinker, you must use skim milk as creamer and Equal or Sweet n’ Low as a replacement for sugar.

Since Daniel Newman created the H4H group, up to 7,000 members have registered with the organization and payed the $50 initiation fee. With the fee, members of Hunger for Hilton receive a bumper sticker that reads “FREE PARIS” and an official document providing proof of a member’s participation.
